Never heard about OpenDenmark? This is the place to start.
OpenDenmark is a Danish organisation that gives everyone knowledge about open licenses, open contetnt, open source software and all other aspects of open.
The organisation OpenDenmark was founded in may 2019. We are a non-profit organization who wants to help everybody in knowing what open means and what potentials open content and open software can have for you.
With six platforms we try to make it easy to see what you can do and what you are allowed to, when you master some know how about open terms.

Why the opposite umbrella?
So why is OpenDenmarks logo an umbrella turning upsite down?
There are more reasons for using the umbrella as the logo of OpenDenmark.
We want to be an umbrella organization, that wants to connect and unite open initiatives.
We want to show that in the perspective of how copyright works, think of it as an umbrella, that protects the rightsholder from the surroundings, the turned umbrella could be what we call copyleft – it does not avoid the surroundings, but take part in and advantage of the surroundings.
We would also like to help foster new ideas and who knows, perhaps help you in finding new contacts and collaborators for your projects.
Also, look at the umbrella as a tool to collect knowledge. We look for open projects, software, culture heritage, repositories and open minded people. An umbrella is waterproof, so what could be better to collect in?

First of all, we can help you, if you want to know anything about open knowledge, open licenses and open software, that happens in Denmark.
We dont know everything, but sometimes we know who might.

Since you might not speak Danish as a native speaker, the chances are that you know other languages, areas and countries than we might do.

When it comes to open licenses, open knowledge and open source – language is not a gap. Freedom is global.
Our sites
Our mission is to make it easy for everyone to learn about all aspects of open. There are different aspects of open. One is the ability to understand copyright and open licenses. Another is actually finding and using open knowledge and open content on different sites and repositories. A third aspect is obviously to know about open source software and hardware. We also think that a digital literacy should be founded in a critical postition to informations and the awareness of what collaboration can do and has been doing for humanity and society. Finally the use of generative AI should be based of an understanding and a respect for copyright but at the same time should be emporwered by the users understanding of open – wether it is about content, codes, licenses or how to be transparent in our own production and in our attribution, when using others works.
In total this means that we think it is nessesary to have different sites, for different purposes, and therefore we have made a range of sites, as you can see below.
